The Countdown is On!

by Helen Freeman, Principal

Excitement is building as the school year draws to a close and with the added bonus of the official announcement by Matt Fregon MP at Monday’s assembly regarding the $4.426 million coming our way for a facilities upgrade, Syndal South Primary School is a buzz. Our wonderful Years 6's are busily preparing for their graduation and many will be involved in transition sessions to their elected Secondary College next Tuesday. On the same day (Tuesday) we welcome our new Foundations to Syndal South Primary School for their extended transition session from 9.30 am to 1.00 pm.  The students in years Foundation to Year 5 will be moving up to experience a session in their year level for 2021 on Tuesday too.

Your Ideas Are Important!

To prepare for the Facilities upgrade, we need to complete an Asset Management Plan (AMP). The AMP is a long-term document that helps to plan for the school’s future. The plan will identify, organise, and prioritise the building works required at our school, ensuring students have access to educational facilities that prepare them to thrive in the future. This will help ensure our building plans support our educational direction and long-term vision for the school.

We need your ideas; it would be greatly appreciated if you could fill in the form below by Friday 11th December.

Congratulations!

During the September school holidays, Charlize contacted me seeking permission to enable her to post a video on YouTube using a private account wearing her school bomber jacket and leadership badge for the purposes of entering a Japanese Talent Competition that Sensei Christina had posted.

Charlize, with parent consent submitted one of her Japanese Club video tutorials that she had produced during remote learning.

Recently, Charlize received this marvellous news from the Japanese Foundation in Sydney:

Congratulations! Your entry for our ‘What’s Your J-Talent?’ online competition titled ‘DIY Den Den Daiko’ has been awarded staff pick under the Lifestyle category! We were impressed by your resourcefulness and the way you made your video engaging for viewers.

We are happy to inform you that as a result of your win, you will be receiving a prize pack from us in the near future, containing a $100 voucher for Kinkouniya, The Japan Foundation merchandise, Japanese tea, sweets and more!

Congratulations! Charlize from everyone at Syndal South Primary School. We are very proud of your achievement, Charlize.

Student Reports

The Semester 2 reports will be uploaded to Compass on Friday 11th December.

There are only progression points for Literacy and Numeracy this year. The progression points will show the dot from the end of last year (2019) to the end of this year (2020) Some areas will not be reported on as they have not been a learning focus this year.

As we are unable to run formal parent interviews this year, there is still the opportunity to have an interview via phone or via WebEx with your child’s teacher if you wish.  Please contact your child’s teacher to work out a time.  The interviews will be for 10 mins. The teachers will only be available before school or after school.
