Principal's News

Dear Parents and Friends,

Our 2021 preps completed their final transition day with much confidence this week. One of the activities this week was to decorate their Trinity bucket hat. This was a winning activity which was proudly undertaken by all the new students. Hopefully we will see the children wearing their new hats around Richmond.

Meanwhile, during a recent lunch break some junior students were lucky enough to have participated in an open air concert performed by our Ekuele Club. As you can see they were spellbound!

Science at Trinity

One of our 2020 initiatives has been to employ a Science teacher to ensure our students develop:

  • an interest in science as a means of expanding their curiosity and willingness to explore, ask questions about and speculate on the changing world in which they live
  • an understanding of the vision that science provides of the nature of living things, of the Earth and its place in the cosmos, and of the physical and chemical processes that explain the behaviour of all material things
  • an understanding of the nature of scientific inquiry and the ability to use a range of scientific inquiry methods, including questioning, planning and conducting experiments and investigations based on ethical principles, collecting and analysing data, evaluating results, and drawing critical, evidence-based conclusions
  • an ability to solve problems and make informed, evidence-based decisions about current and future applications of science while taking into account ethical and social implications of decisions
  • a solid foundation of knowledge of the biological, chemical, physical, Earth and space sciences, including being able to select and integrate the scientific knowledge and methods needed to explain and predict phenomena, to apply that understanding to new situations and events, and to appreciate the dynamic nature of science knowledge.

Maria Neill was appointed to this role and has done a wonderful job (even through a  pandemic) with the learning and teaching of science.

It is really exciting to see that all her hard work and that of our students has resulted in some thorough and deep understandings about science.

Staff News

As we continue to organise the 2021 school year we will say goodbye to a couple of staff members and welcome some new.

Maria Neill has decided not to return to her teaching role next year in order to spend more time on her other interests. Maria has been at Trinity since 1999 and has had many roles. Over this time Maria has been Deputy Principal, Religious Education Leader and Class teacher of most year levels. Maria has contributed an enormous amount to our Trinity Community being very generous with her time and skills. We say an BIG thankyou to Maria and wish her much happiness in her next adventure.

As we already know Lucy O'Dea will take maternity leave at the end of the year and very soon after welcome her Twins into the world. What a exciting time for Lucy and her husband. We wish her and hope that she manges some sleep during the next 18 years.

We welcome Emily deKoot to our staff next year as our new Religious Education Leader. Emily comes to us from another Catholic School and has much experience both as a classroom teacher and an REL. We are very excited that she will be joining us as she will bring a wealth of knowledge with her.

We are continuing with our recruitment process and hopefully will be able to announce all our 2021 staff and grades before the end of the year.

School Sports Tomorrow

The children will participate in school sports tomorrow. All students to wear their sports uniform. Unfortunately parents will not be able to attend.

Book Fair

We had four wonderful days hosting this year's Book Fair in our Library.

Even though we unfortunately could not invite you all, it was a lot of fun seeing our fantastic students browse and buy books.

A huge and heartfelt "Thank you" to you for your generosity and supporting your children and our school in this exciting annual event.

A big thank you too to all staff supporting the Fair and to our Library Leaders, Maggie, Edom, Mailys and Kathy, who were fantastic in their commitment running and overseeing the stalls, selling books, posters and novelty items for which they had help from a lot of enthusiastic volunteers.

It seems everyone had a wonderful time and I am looking forward to next year when we are (hopefully) able to invite the whole community again!

Thank you again and

all the best
