Wellbeing with Sas

Throughout Term 4 at Woodmans Hill, a number of our students have had the opportunity to participate in an array of wellbeing programs being delivered at the school. These programs have included:

The GRRIT (Growth, Resilience, Respect, Identity and Teamwork) boys program

The GRRIT Program was designed to enhance personal development, assist participants to develop positive peer relationships, provide opportunities for skill development and increase engagement. The program incorporated weekly sessions with a facilitator from the Chin-Up Project. Throughout these sessions, participants will examined the variables affecting their identity and how these influence their relationships and decision making processes. The participant’s involved in this program have formed invaluable connections amongst themselves and the staff involved in this program. We look forward to seeing these boys develop their leadership skills within the school in 2021

The Girls With Sass Program

The program provided the young women involved with opportunities to develop their knowledge, resilience and self-worth. The program utilised a strengths based approach to facilitate healthy discussions and experiential learning. The program offered participants support, guidance, and boundaries for healthy development and positive mental health. Participants in engaged in activities to enhance health, wellness and wellbeing. A great time was had by all involved!

The Art Connections Program

The program was based around the philosophy of ‘busy hands, calm mind’ and engaged participants in a range of art activities that taught new skills, inspired creative thinking, provided stress relief, gave a sense of achievement, and helped to build resilience – all whilst connecting students with teachers and peers. The Art Connection Program was a huge hit and the room was always filled with a warm, friendly and creative vibe.

Mindful, Body, Breath Program

The Mind, Body and Breath program was based on an ancient Chinese practice called Qi Gong. Qigong is a moving meditation practice that incorporates gentle restorative exercise and can support the release of mental, physical and emotional stress. The sessions provided participants with strategies to enhance their mindfulness and wellbeing.
