VCAL BBQ

As part of the Year 8 and 9 Respectful Relationships program, the 2020 VCAL students planned and organized a barbeque.  This BBQ was our main assignment for the Headstart program. It showed our new Year 11 VCAL students just how all our subjects worked together.

An example of this is how we made the schedule in Personal Development Skills, the Risk Assessment in Work Related Skills, and we conducted a survey in Numeracy to work out the dietary requirements of the students and in Literacy.   We also learnt about food safety and importance of safe food handling. These tasks not only worked towards the BBQ, but also fitted in with the subjects and their outcomes.  Another reason we organized this BBQ was to learn to work together and with people we had only just met as teamwork is a valued part of VCAL.

Although we had a few problems, the BBQ was a success, over 200 sausages were cooked and over 80 people were fed.
