Year 9 French

French Regions Lunch

During the last two weeks of Term 2 in our Year 9 French class, everyone chose a region in France that they were interested in and presented 10 interesting facts as a PowerPoint or poster.

The regions we studied were Corsica, Normandy, New Aquitaine, Grand-Est, Ile-de-France and Brittany.

After each presentation we had to write a review. We wrote one fact that we found interesting, whether we would like to visit that region and a comment on the group’s presentation.

Each group then brought in food that originated from their chosen region.   There was cider, crêpes, a baguette, cheese, cakes, omelette, quiche and biscuits.

C’était délicieux!

Year 9 French

This year French has been pretty fun. The best part of the year was making the picture story book.  I really liked it because there was drawing and not much writing involved. The activity of making a story book was fun and went fast. I liked how you taught us and how you made the work we did easy to learn.  - Kirby

When I moved into this class it was very good. All the kids helped me when it was a bit hard.  I loved doing the story book because I could write about anything I wanted.  It really helped me to find simple things that I wasn't sure of. - Emma

In French we have just finished our story book CAT. I really enjoyed learning the past verb conjugations because it opened up so many new areas in French that I can now use.Abbey

French has been very fun this year. The research task on the regions of France was a highlight as we learnt a lot about the culture and more importantly the food.  We also  learnt a lot of French songs that are still stuck in my head. Apparently, French 80's music is a thing and it's as cringy as it sounds. All jokes aside, Year 9 French has been a fun class and I hope it continues for years to come. - Maggie

French was really fun this year, especially the research tasks and of course the little lunch we had.  We actually learnt quite a lot this year.  I feel like more than what I had learnt back in Year 7 and 8, with a lot about grammar, punctuation and conjugations. There's so much we've done, that I can't really remember it all, but I really liked some of the songs we listened to, especially Besoin D'amour, which is now a part of my playlist.  I also liked our book making, and how pretty they all ended up looking, and I enjoyed reading it to the class, like a primary school teacher.  Derek

I for the most part, have enjoyed learning French this year. I  have found myself to be able firmly grasp the concepts of the language and use it. Parts I have enjoyed in French are the songs and poems from France, the French foods and I enjoyed drawing my picture story book, although I was not the best with making it look good. Austin.

I have enjoyed French this year, I feel like I have been able to comprehend the majority of the concepts we have learnt. What I enjoyed most about last term, was creating the story books, as I like writing stories and I also enjoyed when we tried all the French food. Jess

I have found French a little challenging this year, but I am willing to keep on trying.   I think it will open up a whole heap of opportunities for me in the future.  I have found the most challenging parts of it was not the French itself, but the structuring, did not come very easily at the start of the term.  Luckily I have a very patient teacher who is willing to work with me in and out of class time.  This is why madam Farrell is my favourite French teacher. I enjoyed playing French games and doing challenges. I am looking forward to trying French food again at the end of Term 4!!! - Natasha

French has been fun this year. We had to write and produce a picture story book. It was really fun getting the chance to be creative and write a story. We had to create characters and send them on an adventure. I also enjoyed learning poems and songs in French. I liked the song “Besoin d’amour”.  – Nyssa.

French Play

Madame Pradier’s SEAL classes enjoyed learning a play based on the tale of the Three Little Pigs – Les Trois Petits Cochons.

What a fabulous way for them to learn French. They are so capable and confident in their expression and it shows that they have developed a wonderful connection to the language they are learning.  Bravo!
