Peer Tutoring
If you want something done ask a busy person. It’s strange but true. Not only do busy people get things done, they take on more work and do it well. That was very clear this week when we trained our new group of peer tutors.
Peer tutors make themselves available each week to help younger students with their studies. These tutors really are our best and brightest. Each one has been nominated for the role by their teachers, not just for their academic ability but also for their ability to work well with others.
These are busy students. As well as volunteering their time as tutors every Monday after school, they maintain excellent grades and many also have part-time jobs, are part of sporting teams or take on other leadership roles at school or in the community.
Our tutors pass on their knowledge but at the same time, they pass on important study skills - little things like how to set out a question, structure an essay, read a marking guide to help you understand a task and receive the best possible grade.
We would like to thank our retiring Year 11 tutors for all the help you’ve given to others. A special mention has to go to Chloe, who has given up her time every week since the program began and will now mentor our new tutors when they begin next week. We also welcome aboard our new tutors: Bailey, Caitlyn, Chloe, Cody, Curtis, Ella, Emma, Hope, Jet, Kiara, Maddy, Matthew, Mel, Scott and Tyler.
Congratulations on being nominated and thank you for your time and dedication.
