VET in 2018

All students who are completing a VET course next year should now have completed their initial application forms.

Letters have been sent home outlining the location of the VET course and the materials fees payable.

VET fees are payable to Lilydale High School no later than Monday 4 December.

If you are completing a VET subject in 2018 and have not received the VET fee letter, please contact the Careers Office ASAP.

VET Orientation Day

Students completing a VET subject in 2018 will shortly receive details about a VET Orientation session.

VET Orientation is a compulsory session where students are informed about the requirements of the course and may be required to complete important enrolment paperwork.

Students are required to bring a pen, paper to write on, their USI and any other material requested by the VET provider.

Most orientation sessions will be run on Wednesday 6 December, however, students are advised to check the orientation paperwork to confirm dates, times and locations of their orientation session.

Beyond School Study Guide

The Department of Education and Training (DET) has produced the Beyond School Study Guide.

The guide is a digital resource for Years 10 to 12 students providing information about Australian Government assistance so they are able to make informed choices about their future studies.

Check out the factsheets on each of the HELP loans, different pathways to university, and a comparison on what study might look like in the higher education sector or for vocational education and training (VET).

Career Quiz App

The Department of Employment has recently launched a Career Quiz app. This fun, interactive app has been designed to help job seekers better understand their work preferences and learn more about the kinds of jobs they might enjoy or be good at.

The app is based on the popular Career Quiz currently on the Job Outlook website.

Job seekers complete a series of simple questions about the types of work they most like doing. Their responses are used to create a profile which has links to detailed information about a range of occupations that suit their work preferences.

The Career Quiz app can be downloaded free from the iTunes app store and Google Play by searching for ‘Career Quiz Australia’.
