Middle School News

Wow Work!
It is fantastic to see all the amazing work that our Middle School students produce each week. We love celebrating and sharing their work with our local community and hope that you appreciate it just as much as we do. This week we would like to share the Smash Writing Narrative Stories the students wrote.
'The Orphanage'
The keys were cold in my hands. The nervous feeling as in my stomach churned as I unlocked the arc shaped door.
First I saw the tired looking employees, next I saw the dark drapes that loomed over the windows. I jumped at a clap of thunder, everybody laughed and I got the nickname 'Thunderjump'.
From that day on I was teased and bullied forever. Everyday I sat in my bedroom and cried, whenever people walked past my door they would yell out "Thunderjump!"
Finally, one day the tallest and meanest one demanded, "Thunderjump, what's your real name?" "Bindi Acar," I stammered. I got some friends that day for having such a cool name.
So that's some of my story. I just don't know why Mum picked this orphanage before she had her slow and very, very uneasy death.

Movie Screening Afternoon
This week we welcomed parents and friends to the Middle School for a short movie viewing session. This was to celebrate the completion of our History Unit on Australian Explorers. The students worked in teams to create an iMovie depicting an Australian Explorer and their travels. They had to plan their movie, allocate character roles, organise props and costumes, research information and film their movie. Thank you to all the parents who came to the viewing afternoon. It helps make the task more meaningful and the students were so proud of their efforts.
Genius Hour
This term, Middle School is building a mini greenhouse in Genius Hour. They were challenged to research, design and create a mini green house with the purpose to house a seedling that we will plant in the coming weeks. Please bring along materials needed to finish creating the mini green houses as we are wanting to plant in the next few weeks.
