SAPSASA

This week Largs Bay students have been participating in the annual SAPSASA State Hockey and Soccer Championships. Largs Bay School is well represented in the Port SAPSASA District team.

No doubt they have had a great time playing against the best hockey and soccer players in the state and making new friends.

NWJSC

On the weekend, Liam, Fergus and Nick  represented LARGS BAY School at the district level in the Under 12 development soccer squad for the NWJSA.

Liam and Fergus were in NWJSA U12D Black Team and Nick was in NWJSA U12D White Team (the teams were registered in different rounds)

Black were the minor premiers of their round and White were 2nd in their round.

Black and White played against each other at the Semi-Final…it was a very tense final. It went to penalty shoot outs it was that even.  Black won by 2 goals in the penalty shoot-out.

Black went on to play Sunraysia (Renmark/Berri) in the Grand Final.  Black defeated Sunraysia 2/0 to take the Championship.

Therefore;   Liam and Fergus are U12D South Australian Soccer Country Champions 2017.

Rugby League Championships

On Monday June 19th two teams of boys competed in the regional Rugby League Championships held at Henley Primary School. The boys competed against schools from the western suburbs in a tournament that had them play four games in the morning followed by finals.

The B team found the going tough but improved throughout the day. The A team were brave and fought hard all day, reaching the preliminary final after some excellent form in the pool games. We defeated Hendon B in the prelim 6 – 4 and then had a Grand Final against Hendon’s A team.

Hendon A had made it to the Grand final undefeated and had narrowly beaten us earlier in the day. Unfortunately the Largs Bay team had copped some heavy knocks throughout the day and we were unable to match it with Hendon in the Grand Final, losing 28 – 14.

The boys learnt a lot about themselves and had a great day.

The teams participated strongly throughout the day, with the Largs Bay White team playing in the Grand Final. Unfortunately they were defeated by a strong West Lakes Shore team.
