Textiles on Show

For the last couple of weeks, the textiles department have been showcasing some the students’ creative work.  In the display cabinet in the office, Year 12 Vet Fashion students have breastplates inspired by women of strength in fantasy stories. Each one is a story on its own, each with its combination of hardware, colours and fabrics.

Also included in the cabinet, the Year 11 Vet students created cloaks for mini mannequins inspired by mysterious fantasy characters; colours and textures are taken from an aspect of nature.

On display on the noticeboards near the staffroom are two displays.   One is of the Year 10 mood-boards that explore the use of colour in fashion. These have beautiful images that are tied together by a single colour.  On this board, as well is the work of Year 9 Fashion Design students who have designed gorgeous garments using beads, seeds, feathers and other interesting materials.

In the textiles rooms we have the work of Year 7 and 8 students. This is a lovely installation of hand-embroidered lovebirds of all colours just in time for Easter.

The textiles notice boards also show off the intriguing felt hand bags made by the Year 12 students along side their hand woven wall hangings.  In all, we love showing off our wonderful student work because it really does show how creative they are.
