Walk to School Fruit Basket

As a congratulations and thank you for participating in the 2019 Walk to School Program, Rollins Primary School was lucky enough to win a basket of fresh fruit to the value of $175 from Bellarine Fresh Fruit and Veg. Some of the participants of the Walk to School program were able to come and have a piece of fruit and it was great to see some students trying new fruits that they hadn’t tried before. We look forward to building on our fantastic effort in this year’s Walk to School in October 2020. Here are some photos of some of the students enjoying the fruit provided.

Rollins Primary School has also been the lucky recipient of a $500 Rebel Gift Card! This prize was awarded to us for our fabulous participation in Walk to School 2019 including our fantastic video entry. Once the school oval is completed we will use the gift card to purchase sporting equipment that will enhance the physical activity levels of our students and school community. Congratulations to everyone who took part in the Walk to School initiatives this year!

Sustainability

We are currently collecting bread tags, bottle tops and old mobile phones at school. This not only saves these items from landfill, but helps others less fortunate than us.

Thank you to everyone for all of your bread tags so far - we have collected about 6  kilograms of tags that will be delivered to Urban Upcycle, where they will be passed on and help contribute to the purchase of wheelchairs in South Africa.  Please continue to bring them in and place them in your classroom collection box.

We are also collecting bottle top lids. These lids are being turned into 3D plastic, which is then used to make prosthetic limbs for third world countries. Please place any lids you have in the box outside the office. There is also a box for any old mobile phones you no longer need or use.
