Moore Centre Gawarn and Budja Groups

Another fun week of learning in the Moore Centre last week. We have been risk takers as we utilised the hot glue gun with selection of materials to either make a robot or children’s choice of construction. These have been used in other areas of play i.e. taking them to the drawing and paint easel, block corner to continue ‘robot messages’ and even to the hospital to become doctors. We have also seen some robots been made out of the block magnets and in the playdough area.

We have also been using the magnetic circles to imagine the ‘raindrops’ and making colours from last week when the children utilised the water tubs and paint brushes to create ‘coloured rain drops’. We have also set up a small world play of turtles after some interest through playdough creations and drawings.

Thanks to all that came for the parent/teacher meetings and the feedback and goals to be set. Group goal for both groups for the rest of the year is to be on time! When children are late they miss out on some important group time where we discuss topics and lead into our day and recite our acknowledgement to country. When the door is constantly being opened it disrupts those that are ready to begin their day of learning as their focus and concentration is disrupted.  So let’s all have a super restful holiday and begin Term Three on time – thank you!

Dickins Centre 3 Y.O Wimbi Group

We had a great week in our Wimbi class. The children have been fascinated with concepts of space and this has led to learning around space flight, concepts of thrust and learning about astronauts. This week Mardi extended the children’s interest by bringing in a foot powered rocket, we unpacked the concepts of thrust and energy and each child had a go of launching the rocket. This experience allowed us to unpack measurement, speed, prediction skills, mathematical concepts and self regulation skills.

The children adored the art area this week also, we have been providing opportunities to engage in cutting, pasting, drawing and creativity. This area has been so popular and the children have demonstrated pride in their work, focus, concentration and turn taking.

Dickins Centre 4 Y.O Marram Group

Our Marram class had a busy week at kinder and did really well in managing their learning over the two wet days we had. It was wonderful to have the opportunity to speak to each family about their child’s progression at kinder. Sport was great this week, Aaron is away for the last two weeks, so the children had Paul instead. It was wonderful to be able to participate in the sunshine.

We spent a lot of time this week engaging in science, we cooked pizza on Friday, looking at the process of change and working with ingredients that we collected from the school garden. The children also participated in some fun musical songs, following a ‘crazy conductor’ and playing along with the instruments.

The children have been really enjoying art within the program, they have wanted to explore their interests through these mediums and this has lead to moments where they have created their own ‘pokemon’ and created ‘pizza’s’ which they put into boxes and delivered all around the room

We are looking forward to the last week of term.
