ENROLMENTS CLOSING SOON!!
Enrolments for Prep 2020 close on Friday 28th June. If you have a child who will commence schooling in 2020, please see the office for an enrolment form. Existing enrolments of older siblings does not mean an automatic enrolment of younger siblings. Please let us know ASAP!!
Cross Country
Congratulations to Mitchell and Arkie in Year 5/6 who competed in the next stage of the Interschool Cross Country Competition. They did very well both personally and in representing St. Augustine's Primary School.
Friday Morning Yoga
On Friday 7th June we began Friday Morning Yoga. The whole school assembled on the netball court on a cold but pleasant morning at 8.55am. Two of our Year 6 SRC members lead the everyone through a series of stretches. Yoga is the practice of gently stretching the body to loosen and prepare the muscles for activity. It also involves breathing correctly. Maintaining a healthy mind and body is important to being a good learner.
Lunchtime LEGO Club
Last Wednesday we started the first of our lunchtime clubs. There was such an interest that we have had to split it over three days; Mondays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays. Each session will have about 30 students attending. More LEGO blocks will need to be purchased to meet the demand and allow students to put their creations on display for the short term. If there are any families (or you may know of families) that have unwanted LEGO sets at home, we will kindly and with great gratitude accept any donations.
Important Reminder
If your child is sick, we encourage you to keep them at home until they are well enough to attend school again. Firstly, colds, viruses and infections are easily spread. Keeping your child home reduces the risk of spreading germs to other students and staff members. Secondly, an unwell child when suffering from sniffles and headaches will not be productive, particularly when spending most of the day in the sick bay.
When your child is going to be absent from school, please inform the office as soon as possible so that their absence can be recorded on the attendance roll.

A reminder that if you need to leave your child/children at school before 8.30am, then you need to be using OSHClub. Also, if you find that you will be collecting your child from school later than 3.45pm, then you also need to book them into OSHClub. This service is available to you for these reasons, so that you know that your child is safe, cared for, feed and during these winter months, warm as well. Particularly in the afternoons, it means you don't need to worry about having to rush from work to collect your child by a certain time. Staff are not on duty before 8.30am or after 3.45pm to supervise students.
Classrooms & Teachers
Parents are always welcome here at St. Augustine's. Between 8.30am to 8.55am and 3.15pm to 3.30pm you are welcomed and encouraged to enter the classrooms. These times allow you to see your child's work or classroom displays, help settle and prepare your child for the day or even join in classroom prayer. You may also use this time to touch base and talk briefly to the classroom teacher. This brief conversation may including asking generally how your child is going or to inform the teacher of an upcoming absence or early pick up from school. For detailed conversations about your child's progress or to raise issues or concerns about your child with the teacher, I strongly recommend and encourage you to make an appointment with the teacher. Appointments can be made any day of the week before school and Wednesday to Friday after school. When discussing your child's progress or any issues or concerns it is better that this is done privately rather than in view and hearing of other students and parents.
Nudie Lunch Thursdays
On Thursdays the SRC encourages all school members to not bring plastic or foil wrappers on their lunches. Reusable containers or paper bags and wrappers are acceptable. Let us all try to do our bit for the environment, taking care of the wonderful gift of the world that God has given us.
