Music

After such a busy start to the year, as a department, we would like to take the opportunity to thank you for your ongoing support of the Music Department. It is lovely to see so many happy faces during each week, as all of our Tallebudgera State School students have the opportunity to participate in classroom music, choir (commencing week 7), strings or band.
We are already looking forward to term two with anticipation. It will be a very busy term in the music department. Students will have the opportunity to perform at the Fanfare music festival as well as attend the Regional Primary Music Camp.
Music Department Communication
Several important emails and Class Dojo messages have been sent out this year to date. If by some chance you have not received these, please check the following:
- Have you joined your child’s Class Dojo ensemble groups?
- Are our emails sitting in your Junk Mailbox?
- If you wish to nominate a preferred parent to receive emails from the music department, please let us know.
Instruments
All school-hired instruments have been issued over the past two weeks where paperwork and payment plans have been finalised. Students using their own instrument should bring these for their lessons/rehearsal. We advise you to attach a small ribbon/ colourful gadget to the case to allow for quick identification. Instruments should be going home each day after their lesson or band rehearsal day.
Practice
Every student would like to achieve a feeling of success and enjoyment when playing their instrument. We know from recent extensive research that students who participate meaningfully in the study of an instrument reap the benefits in so many areas of their academic and social development. Establishing a practise routine at the start of the year is paramount to reaping the rewards of playing an instrument and sets a great foundation for the year. Many students will require the assistance of parent/s to set a routine for regular practise. Please take some time at this crucial part of the year to help them set up good practise routines.
Getting in ‘The Swing of Things’
SETTING UP A CONSISTENT ROUTINE IS KEY TO STUDENT SUCESS
Every instrumental music student has been allocated a lesson time (held during the school day) and a place in one of our band or string ensembles (held before or after school). A friendly reminder that first few weeks are particularly important for our music students. Routines are set, music is issued, and the foundation work for the term is covered. Unfortunately, our schedule does not allow time for us to catch these students up as we work across multiple schools in our capacity as full-time Instrumental Music teachers for the Department of Education. With this in mind, it would be fantastic to see every music student here next week for their rehearsal (if it has begun) and their scheduled lesson. If your child is absent from rehearsal, could you please email your respective ensemble teacher.

Choir with Mrs Hapi
Hello wonderful Tally people! It is my absolute joy and pleasure to teach music and especially choir to your wonderful children. The last 4 years I have been teaching music in Far North Qld namely Bamaga and Aurukun and have now returned home to the beautiful Gold Coast where my family reside. So that's me.
Our Senior choir will commence on March 7 Monday morning from 8:00-8:45am in Week 5 including Years 4, 5 and 6 students. March 8 Tuesday morning 8:00-8:45am for Junior choir including Years 1-2 and 3. Rehearsals will take place in the music room. If you have any questions, suggestions for favourite songs your children would like to learn or just come and meet me, please come to the music room or respond to my email below.
Thank you also for the wonderful support you give to the Instrumental and Strings program. We simply couldn't function effectively without it. Finally, I have organised the choir times to not clash with strings or instrumental as some students participate in more than one instrument. Looking forward to meeting everyone at our first practise.
