Lunchtime Activities

We are trying to encourage our students at break times to be active, happy and healthy.  Every Monday lunchtime our house captains (special mention to Neve and Zen)  run  ‘Just Dance’ in the KLC Foyer – this has proven to be very popular.

In the KLC, on Tuesdays and Thursdays, we have 'Jacka verses Ansett' Primary students game of Dodge Ball.  Friday is dedicated to Secondary students. This Friday requires a special mention as we have a 'Staff verses Student' Dodge Ball Competition.

Every recess and lunchtime Primary school students have the opportunity to borrow an array of equipment from the Primary School Sports Shed that is attached to bus shelter.  A big thank-you to our Primary School Leaders for running this.

Adding to this is a Lunchtime Walking/Photography Club which is about to start.  We encourage all students to participate in any if not all of these activities.

School Photos

Just a reminder that due to small Covid case numbers and subsequent large student absences we are rescheduling our school photos to Friday May 6th (Term 2 – Week 2) . Please write this new date on your school calendar.

Year 7 Information Night

The Year 7 Information Night that was due to be held this Thursday 10 March has also been rescheduled. At this stage we do not have a future date for this event.

Uniform - Hair

Our uniform policy regarding hair states:

  • All hair below shoulder length to be tied back
  • All hair (whether above or below shoulder length) to be off the face
  • Gold, burgundy or navy plain ribbons or clips only

We are asking all students to follow our uniform policy for a number of reasons regarding hair:

  • OHS – many subjects such a Science, Food Tech, Art, Woodwork and PE require hair tied back for safety reasons.
  • We need to see our student’s eyes as this ensures they are listening and staying on task
  • Minimises the spread of nits
  • More practical and convenient

Mobile Phones

We have seen a spike in students bringing their mobile phones to school – please remind your child they don’t need their phone at school and it is not part of our Mobile Phone Policy for students to bring their phone to school.  We are trying to provide a safe and secure environment for our students – mobile phones do not help this.  A reminder to our community if your child brings their phone to school and is confiscated it will not be returned to the student. We are asking the parent / carer to come and collect it.
