Year 7 Iron Form Day-Golden Iron returns to E Team!

Our Super Star Year 7 students had a fantastic day on Friday March 4 with the Iron Form activities. Students and their Home Group teachers worked steadily throughout the first few weeks of Term 1 to present a mascot, a banner and a song that best represented each Home Group. Congratulations to 7E2, ably supported by Ms Grande and Ms Browning, for all of the effort that went into winning the Golden Iron.

Digital Thumbprint

Year 7 and 8 students also participated in cyber security workshops last week. Our presenter Dom, worked with students to remind them of their digital thumbprint when students are using social media sites. Students are always positive in their feedback of these workshops and we encourage parents and families to continue the conversation with their child at home.

Resilient Youth Survey

Over the last few days, all students have completed the Resilient Youth Survey provided by the City of Brimbank. Student voice is an important priority at our College, and survey responses feed into our daily work. Responses will also be used by the Social and Emotional Well Being working party.

GALA

The College GALA-production has been two years in the making and students and staff have been working hard to keep the show going. Congratulations to Marlee Conlan and her Performing Arts Team for their resilience and persistence.

Performances were March 31 and April 1 at the Bowery Theatre St Albans.

Meet and Greet

Thank you to the students and families who attended the Meet and Greet session on March 7. This year we extended our invitation to families to attend from 3.30 – 4.30pm so that all teachers would be available. We had 32 families meet their child’s Home Group Teacher and feedback was positive from all involved.

College Athletics Carnival

There are not many opportunities for all of the students from the College to come together and so the annual College Athletics Carnival is always a highlight. The weather was excellent for a great day of friendly competition. Congratulations to KP D and T Teams for their win, closely followed by Syd E and B Teams. The friendly competition also extends to the staff- congratulations once again to Dr Gruis for his first place (in his age group) for the second year in a row!

Smash Alcohol

All Year 8, 9 and 10 students viewed a live musical production by a group of young performers earlier this term. They showed students the causes and effects that alcohol has on young teens and presented strategies for how young people can safeguard each other and themselves.

Discovery Evening

A big thank you to Ms Krystal Allison (Campus Transition Leader) for all of her work in organising and promoting the Discovery Evening last week. This event is a great chance for prospective students and their families to see the campus and hear about the wonderful opportunities that enrolling at Copperfield College- Sydenham Campus offers. The evening’s tag line “there’s more to Copperfield than you know” did not disappoint.

Campus Goals for 2022

We were very proud at our campus assembly to also congratulate our 2021 students who had made last year a Champion Year. We shared with students how well we had achieved last year’s goals and how much we valued their contribution to that achievement. We unveiled our 2022 campus goals;

  • Improving Student Attendance,
  • Seating Arrangements based on Student Data,
  • Fostering pride in our environment- classrooms, corridors and in the yard
  • Promoting student voice and agency.

We invited students to help us work towards these new goals and to make 2022 a Year of Champions!
