Creative Writing
It was the end of 2020; I was in the final stages of Year 7 (seems just a short while ago) and my English teacher set us a task; write a poem about anything. So, I decided to pick the very virus that wreaked havoc throughout Australia and the world. You know what I am talking about right? Yes, its COVID-19. My poem “The Royals Virus” would eventually end up getting published in a anthology published by Saci Books. However, for that to happen, I needed to enter my poem about COVID-19 into a competition. Out of about 150-200 students who entered, my poem was chosen amongst others to be featured in this book. The long publication process began. After many consultations with authors the book was published towards the end of 2021. It was long process which left me impatient, just itching to see what the book would turn out to be. It turned out to be something incredible. Something that I am very much proud of. You can see my poem along with others if you borrow that book, titled “Who has the key to lockdown?”.
