Leadership @ MPS

Congratulations to the MPS Swim Team for a solid couple of weeks of competing! We are thrilled that our students had the opportunity to swim this year.  Make sure you have a look at the photos on the MPS Swim page.

Dogs on School Grounds:

Whilst it is wonderful to see the strong connection between many of children and their pet dogs, it is extremely important that appropriate "dog owner" behaviour is adhered to if a dog is on school grounds.  If you are a dog owner and you bring your dog to school for pick up/drop off, please be mindful of the fact that not all people are comfortable with dogs. And in the interests of safety, ensure that your dog is kept on a manageable lead at all times. If your dog exhibits any anti social behaviours, please do not bring him/her to school. The link to the MPS Dog Policy can be accessed here.

Traffic Management:

Unfortunately, there have been reports that some parents are not taking care when dropping or picking up their child, in and around our adjoining streets. We are aware that peak school traffic can be difficult to navigate - this is an age old problem that many schools face.  The safety of our children is paramount! Please drive safely and sensibly, avoid double parking, any type of U turn on any of the roads around the school and show common courtesy to other drivers. If you are running late, please consider better alternatives such as,  being a few minutes late to work or to school is a much better alternative than driving unsafely and therefore compromising the safety of others.

The Monty community really is terrific. Thank you for the many shows of understanding and support as we work through further challenges - COVID-19 is certainly a gift that keeps on giving.

Take care everyone.

Have a great weekend - stay safe.

Building Update:

Montmorency Primary is thrilled to announce a spectacular new school building to look forward to. In 2021 we received a game-changing grant from the State Government of $5.367 million to upgrade vital educational facilities and meet the needs of our school and diverse specialist education program. Already at the Schematic Design stage, the plan for the new building is informed by many hours of deep consideration by a committed team of Monty staff, in collaboration with the VSBA, School Council, and the stellar team of architects trusted with generating an inspirational and purpose-driven building for our school and community.

The project will see the well-worn ‘Castle’ and kitchen replaced with a striking STEM and Multipurpose space that includes a music room and thoughtfully designed outdoor learning spaces. Picture a graceful, airy, light filled building, entirely accessible, contemporary in form and materials that takes advantage of the surrounding natural environment.

Could we hope for anything more? You bet! Delivering another sorely needed outcome, this grant also provides an efficient renovation to the administration building; repurposing the hall to create a staff room and accommodating diverse workspace needs.

The school community will be regularly informed of the building’s progress and a sensible decanting and management strategy. Works on this exciting project are scheduled to begin late this year.  Amy Barclay in behalf of School Council
