From the Principal

We have now completed almost all of the first Term in face-to-face learning, which feels like a significant achievement! In addition, over the last 2 weeks we have enjoyed hosting events onsite for our wider community; with Year 7 families joining us for the Year 7 Picnic and Year 8 families for the Camp Information Session. It was great to have our families back and enjoying our school programs with their children.

There was a great atmosphere at the Year 7 picnic, which was well attended by families after being postponed earlier in the year. A big thanks to the Junior School team for their work, with all of the Year 7 classes represented, it was a fantastic opportunity for our families to meet each other and connect with teaching staff. Our peer support leaders were also in attendance and welcomed the year 7 students and families. We were able to have one of our Senior bands play for the crowd creating a lovely ambiance among the trees in the courtyard. I am sure that many of the local businesses appreciated the support in creating the impressive picnic spreads that were shared.

We are now at the stage in first Term where we have shared  feedback with families on Learning Behaviours and feedback on Learning Tasks in Compass before our Parent/Teacher/Student Conferences (PTSCs) next week.

Our PTSCs give our staff, students and families the opportunity to build on the learning partnerships between school and home. They are a great opportunity to share and reflect on learning together, discuss progress, celebrate successes and focus on establishing goals for both the short and long term. This term, we will again conduct these conversations via phone, to ensure the widest possible participation of students, parents and staff. You’ll find more detailed information about bookings later in the newsletter.

We have seen some covid-case clusters among our classes in the junior school, however, through COVIDSafe measures, we have been able to keep the number of cases onsite quite low and hope we can continue to do this for the remainder of the Term. I thank families for supporting COVIDSafe behaviours at school. We have seen many students still wearing their face masks and isolating when displaying covid-like symptoms. I would also like to remind students that travel on public transport to and from school that they are still required to wear a mask, especially when unable to socially distance as happens when catching the first few trams in the afternoon.

We hope that all our families remain well and we look forward to running more of our community events in the near future.
