28 July 2019 - Round 11

Year 7 Red – Ray McManus (Coach), Ren (Team Manager)

Mazenod Red Won 44 to Hills Rangers Orange 7

In slippery conditions, the boys started very well kicking the first goal within a couple of minutes and then backed it up with a second before quarter time which put the opposition on the back foot and had to play catch up football.

Playing with a bench for the first time was a luxury as we were able to give players a rest during the game.

A strong second quarter saw the boys go into half time with a four goal lead.

The third quarter was highlighted with one of the boys kicking his first goal for the season and the whole team celebrated this feat.

Going in with a six goal lead at three quarter time, the boys were given one more goal to achieve, but for all their efforts they fell just short. With three games to go before the finals, we will continue to try and tick this final box.

A great effort by all sixteen players and a special thanks to all the parent support for the early start on our longest away trip.

Year 7 Blue – Michael Ferritto (Coach), Paula (Team Manager)

Mazenod Blue Lost 30 to Bassendean 43

Mazza Year 7 Blue came up against 3rd placed Bassendean at their home ground.

The boys came out with great effort and controlled the first quarter and led on the score board. The first quarter took it out of the boys but they kept working hard in the second but were about 2 goals down at the half time break. We made some adjustments to the team and the boys rested up and came out and out scored them to come in 8 points behind.

The boys were right in the game but despite their great tackling pressure in the forward line just couldn’t finish off their hard work and ended up going down by 13 points.

It was a fantastic game by the boys and they need to believe that they can take on any side and give them a run with good effort. Thanks again to our parent volunteers and we look forward to a good week on the track.

Year 7 White – Scott Hopkins (Coach), Melissa (Team Manager)

Mazenod Lost 23 to Hills Rangers Grey 58

Year 8 Blue – Brendan Shanahan (Coach), Annies (Team Manager)

Mazenod Blue Won 52 to Coolbinia Red 33

Year 8 White – Oscar Buckingham (Coach), Tracey / Josh (Team Managers)

Mazenod White Won 50 to Huntingdale 34

We had good accurate kicking, scoring 8 goals and only two behinds. We secured the win, but unfortunately one of our players had to be taken away by ambulance from an injury that occurred with only 2 minutes left in the game. The Huntingdale officials were very supportive and helped us look after our injured player.

Year 9 Blue – Adrian Conti (Coach), Gisella (Team Manager)

Mazenod Blue Won 43 to Upper Swan 35

Year 9 White – Mike Mount-Bryson (Coach), Elena (Team Manager)

Mazenod White Won by Forfeit to Gosnells 3

Gosnells only had 9 players so the game was forfeited.

We played a scratch match with them so at least the boys got a kick

Year 10 – Jake Bayley (Coach), Donna / Jody (Team Managers)

Mazenod Won 116 to Victoria Park

Year 11 Blue – Shane Lanzon (Coach), Santino (Team Manager)

Mazenod Won 51 to Thornlie 50

A great game all day with some hotly contested passages of play. The boys were great and showed some real endeavour, taking the lead late in the 3rd quarter. Then in a tightly contested last quarter that saw the lead change several times, the boys were able to keep their cool and come out victors, taking the lead and keeping it in the dying seconds of the game. The team are looking forward to Friday Night Footy this week under lights at Kostera Oval.

Year 12 White – Will Morris (Coach), John (Team Manager)

Mazenod White Lost 12 to Ellenbrook Purple 132
