NAPLAN Yr7 and Yr9
The NAPLAN test period is fast approaching. Cranbourne Campus will be participating in the annual standardized test between 14th and 17th of May, whilst Clyde North will be participating from 14th May until the 24th of May. The extended period at Clyde North is due to the different testing facilities available.
If your child is absent during the testing period, there are limited opportunities for a catch up test to be conducted, so please ensure your child is present for all tests as allocated in their Campus Timetable emailed to each student by the Middle Years Coordinator; Jade Smith at Cranbourne and Sarah Slykerman at Clyde North. Students must bring their charged laptop and a set of headphones (wired) to be able to listen to audio components within the test to each test session.
Students who have special provisions have already had allowances made and emails have been sent to parents to make them aware of the adjustments made to each test. If parents would like to follow this up, please do not hesitate to speak to the Coaches within the Learning Enrichment Centre; Anne Jeans at Cranbourne and Margaret Anthony at Clyde North.
The College uses NAPLAN data as just one piece of data on a particular day. Together with PAT data and teacher judgement, this provides a picture of progress of student learning outcomes. It is important then that all students participate to the best of their ability. We look forward to a successful testing period.

Examinations Only Five Weeks Away
The Year 10,11 and 12 students will be sitting examinations from Monday 3rd June until 14th June
The purpose of these examinations is to firstly assess student learning but also to prepare students for VCE examination conditions. All examinations are written to mirror VCE exams and are conducted under strict examination conditions. At this stage with only five weeks to go, students should be developing study notes. These may include palm cards, page summaries, developing acronyms to remember key points or drawing up A4 posters to place around the bedroom or bathroom!
How can parents help? Firstly a trip to Office Works to obtain a pack of palm cards and some large Poster size post it notes is a great start. Ask students to prepare palm cards with possible questions on the front and answers on the back. Use these to quiz your son or daughter while preparing dinner. Offer to have posters around the house to recall important points for the next few weeks. Encourage students to develop a study schedule were each subject is allocated time for revision. Encourage students to stick to the study plan by providing a quiet space, with good lighting.
Prior preparation for exams reduces stress and will assist students in developing habits that promote successful learning outcomes.
Please note, students are required to wear full College uniform to all Examinations.
During examination weeks, students are only required at the College for the time of the exams. Study rooms will be set aside for any student who wishes to study at the College between exams.
Students who leave the College to purchase food are asked not to bring food back to the campus.
