Principal's Report

Principal's Report

It is almost school holidays and I do think every member of our school community is looking forward to a break from the rigours of school for a couple of weeks.

Term 3 has been a very difficult term for many families and staff members as they have had to constantly battle the flu and Covid.  Hopefully, the warmth of term 4 will ensure a healthier time for us all.

Laughter is always the best medicine

The recent few weeks at school have seen a return to many of the 'fun' activities that we previously enjoyed prior to 2020.  We have had many opportunities to laugh and celebrate the variety of special activities in both Year Levels and Whole School Events.

Book Week Parade

The Book Parade put a huge smile on the face of everyone in attendance.  I am in awe of the creativity of the families at our school not to mention the staff.

Preps Cubby Building Day

The Prep students demonstrated their team work and their building skills last week as they built Cubby Houses as the conclusion for their ‘Unit of Inquiry ‘

Staff Student Football Match

The Staff vs Student football match was another highlight last Thursday lunchtime.   The staff won by 5 points!  The students were amazing both on and off the field. The atmosphere was thrilling.

Prep Transition

Yesterday our 2023 Prep students attended for their second orientation session.  Our new preps students enjoyed a music and art lesson as an introduction to Primary School.  I would like to thank Tania Purton and Nicole La Gerche for providing the Specialist program for the students.

District Athletics

Congratulations to our team of 61 students from Years 4, 5 and 6 who competed at the District Athletics on Tuesday and were the overall winners.

All of our students displayed good sportsmanship and are a credit to our school.

Our team now progress to Division Athletics.

Please see the PE page for lots of photos of the day.

Parents And Friends Raffle

Amazing achievements by our Parents’ & Friends - the toy raffle raised $3657.00.

Thank you Amy North, Louise Armstrong and Nat Northey.  The students were so happy seeing all the toy raffles on display in the main entrance. The raffle will be drawn at the final assembly tomorrow.

The profit will be spent on our playground and details will be distributed to you once  we have made a decision on what to purchase.

The Parents' & friends group are planning to meet with playground suppliers over the holidays.

Our Parents' and Friends Committee have achieved outstanding results for our school this year. If you would like be part of this group please email beaumaris.north.ps@education.vic.gov.au

Father's Day Stall

Thank you to Ros Claire and Anna for our successful Father's Stall. The amount of work to run this stall is enormous. This fundraiser raised an incredible amount of $3568.00, which is going towards improving our playgrounds.

We are appreciative of all of your support of our school.

Exciting news for Year One

During the holidays new carpet is being laid in the Year One classrooms.  The purchase of this carpet has been made possible by the many families who contributed to our Building Fund.

A school building fund is solely for providing money for acquiring, constructing or maintaining aspects of our school.  Money given to our building fund is tax deductible.

It is never to late to contribute to this school contribution Qkr > School payments >Education Contributions > Building Trust.

Student Action

I would like to sincerely applaud two of our Year 2 students who spend part of their lunch time on Mondays and Fridays cleaning our school grounds.  The girls come armed with their own rubber gloves and garbage bag.  Hopefully our students begin to use the bins provided so that Betty and Avie are out of a job next term.

This action was totally self-driven by these wonderful Year 2 students.

Hot Chips Day

The Student Agency team have organised another Hot Chip Day today.  The students really enjoyed this special activity last term and now they can think that they are in the crowd enjoying the AFL Finals eating their hot chips.

Book Fair

Last week we held our first Scholastic Book Fair in many years.  The children loved coming in during class time looking at the 100's of books available and making their wish lists.

It was a huge success with $6950 of books, posters and stationery sold, which gives the school $2090 in free books for our classrooms and library.

The colouring competition winners and raffle will be announced at the final assembly on Friday.

Thank you to the parents that volunteered to help at the fair, and all the families that came in and bought books to support our school.

Soiree

Congratulations to all the performers at St Leonard's church for the first Instrumental Soirée's since 2019. Over two nights the audience of parents and peers saw performers on Guitar, Piano, Violin, Drums and Ukulele.

Everyone did a fantastic job and played with great confidence.

Well done to the tutors Monica, Rita, Joe and Simon for all their efforts supporting the students.

Final Assembly Friday at 2pm

Weather permitting we will be holding an end of term assembly on Friday commencing at 2pm.

At the conclusion of the assembly the children will be dismissed for the end of term.  Term 3 finishes at 2.30pm.

OSHC will be operating for any family unable to collect their child at the earlier time.  Please ensure your book your child into the OSHC program.

I hope that you have a wonderful and safe term break and I look forward to seeing everyone on Monday 3 October for the commencement of Term 4.
