Dear Parents,

Welcome back to school! What a beautiful start we've had to Term 4. We've enjoyed listening to everyone's holiday adventures over the week and have seen students already back to focusing on their learning in the classroom.

In the final week of Term 3, students from our school represented Bathurst Public School and the Bathurst District, at the Western Athletics Carnival in Dubbo. After two years without a Western Carnival, it was great to be back in Dubbo.

We had many students attend the carnival for the first time, achieve personal bests and experience the fun of competing at a regional level. Congratulations to all our representatives.

Special congratulations to Tim Lynch, Grace Ronan, Sophie Francis, Lara Glasgow and Ruby Cole. Tim finished 2nd in the Senior Boys Discus- well done Tim! Grace, Sophie, Lara and Ruby finished 3rd in the Senior Girls 4 x 100m relay – well-done girls! These students will now represent the Western Region at the State Athletics Carnival next week. They will compete at the Olympic Stadium in Homebush!

This week, we celebrated Trixie's 3rd birthday. In less than 12 months, Trixie has become an irreplaceable member of staff, and we have watched the power she brings in bringing smiles to the faces of students and staff. She continually amazes us with how intuitive she is, having the innate ability to know who needs her the most at any given time. We feel truly blessed. Saying thank you to Assistance Dogs Australia for Trixie does not seem enough. So, this week on her birthday, our community joined together to raise funds in the hope that other schools may one day be as lucky as we are. With our communities generosity, we raised $516 for Assistance Dogs Australia. A huge thank you to Mrs Goninan and Mrs Francis, who are Trixie's carers and trainers. We are very grateful to you both.

Our School Concert Tickets will go on sale at 10 am on Wednesday 19th October. Families can purchase tickets from the BMEC Box Office by calling the BMEC on 6333 6161 or by purchasing them online at www.bmec.com.au. The price of tickets is:

$25 per adult

$20 for concession holders

$10 for juniors (please note that K-6 children at Bathurst Public School do not require a ticket).

The School Concert will be held on Wednesday 23rd November. Please note that on our performance day of Wednesday, 23rd November, we will have a matinee (commencing at 11 am) and an evening (starting at 6.30 pm) performance. Children will be required to perform at both concerts. Please mark these important days on your calendar.

To assist in preparing and purchasing items needed for the costumes, we ask that each child pay a costume hire fee of $10.00. The money can be paid online or directly to the school office. It would be greatly appreciated if this could be paid as soon as possible so we can begin purchasing items and making the costumes and props.

Year groups will send notes home in the coming weeks, outlining any additional information you will need to prepare for our school concert extravaganza.

Congratulations to the students who were voted by their peers to represent them on the Student Representative Council for Term 4.

Our Swimming School applications closed today. This was unfortunately due to limited spaces remaining in our beginner and intermediate groups. The remaining money is due by Friday, 28th October. Thank you to Mrs Mitchell for all her work in coordinating our swim school with Bathurst Swim Academy.
