In our Garden

Wow, What Wet Weather!

The silver lining to all the rain is we have been able to continue cooking our beautiful produce because students have been focussed on inside activities.

We have been using eggs, spring potatoes, kale, collard , walking onions, rosemary and fennel to make delicious veggie fritters.  Every morsel has disappeared off the plates!

We did sneak in a productive day in the garden on Tuesday this week.  Foundation enthusiastically weeded behind the top playground and pulled out some Wopper Weeds.

Mrs Lowes grade got up close with our chickens by collecting the rich soil from their run for our compost. We learnt the different layers we use to build our compost heaps and also about the importance of water and microorganisms in creating our rich nutritious compost.

Another important task was to sweep up the pine needles from the basket ball court, the pines are dropping a lot of pollen at the moment.

Grade 1/2 B were very industrious and excited to harvest sugar snap peas and plant some tiny 5 coloured silverbeet seedlings

There have been lots of jokes about  a few novel ways to get to school including swimming and paddling a boat! Hopefully you all stay warm and dry at home and travel safely!

Happy Gardening,

Sara
