DUKE OF ED:
Our Duke of Ed students have been super busy this term completing a variety of volunteering activities within our local community. Students have assisted in the refurbishment of the Courthouse with Rotary, worked with primary school students at Rochester Primary School and St Josephs both in the classroom and sports days, and helping with Peg Out Day at the Elmore Field Days.
Our Duke of Ed students have also engaged with the local SES and CFA to understand the importance of these roles in our community.
TalkSmart
Our Duke of Ed students were fortunate enough to have Dawn Ferrier from TalkSmart Training visit Rochester Secondary College to complete their First Aid certificates.
After completing lots of online modules, our students thoroughly enjoyed the practical session, in which they learnt CPR, could bandage each other up, and show off their drama skills during some scenarios.
Thank you to Dawn for this amazing opportunity!
Wednesday 14th September, our Duke of Ed group headed out to the Elmore Field Event Centre and helped out with peg day. We had 3 girls head off in the back of the land cruiser and pick up all the pegs after the square that had been sprayed. While the rest of the group went around, measured the squares and got to work. We split off into groups and grabbed tape measurers, pegs and hammers and headed off to work. It was a long day and we had a BBQ lunch and offered some coffee, tea and cookies. It was really good and fun to help out.
