Senior Community News

In SAA Matt we had the topic of ‘Get Lit’ for our Inquiry project in Term 3! We all received a cup, soil & a few dwarf bean seeds to see how our plants would grow in transparent, translucent and opaque lights. Our results were: Transparent light grew an amazing amount, Translucent grew pretty well & Opaque light hardly grew at all! It was a cool to experiment. I also created an X-Ray model in my group on how an X-Ray machine works, it was interesting to create this as it taught us something new and showed us how amazing different light is! – Ayesha Ahmed, SAA Matt.

Middle Community News - Week 3

The start of a new term means exciting new adventures in the middle cohort. All the students will have the chance to work with Mike Spears once again! This started last week with the Grade 4s partnering up with the Grade 5s to learn about leadership for the transition to the senior learning community next year. Students have also been learning about fractions and have enjoyed collaborative tasks with their peers that demonstrate their new knowledge. Many students are currently reading fantasy novels, as we are focusing on this genre in writing. Students are beginning to think deeply about fantasy characters and settings, and how they can use these in their own writing.  We are so happy that students have found a love for reading and take any chance to pull out their favourite book, find a comfortable position and get stuck into a new world.
