Magis report

Congratulations to Thomas Beach (Year 8) and Caleb Faulkner Hill (Year 9) who competed at the State Final of the 2022 United Nations Voice Competition, last night. Voice is a unique public speaking competition for students in Years 7 to 10. It invites students to solve issues that affect their community, nation, and the world. Thomas Beach considered how artificial intelligence could be ethically incorporated into global conflict resolution. Whilst Caleb Faulkner Hill discussed how the international community could better uphold the human rights of prisoners. Our delegates were highly commended for their inspiring and innovative proposals – and we congratulate them on an outstanding achievement.

Congratulations to Genevieve Fergusson-Allen who was named this year’s receipt of the John XXII College Magis Prize. Genevieve received this accolade at Presentation Night, for her outstanding commitment to the Magis Program throughout her time at the College.

How will you strive for the ‘Magis’ in 2023?

2023 is shaping up to be another busy and exciting year. The Magis Program will continue to offer students the chance to compete in the top state gifted student competitions as well as national and global events. These opportunities will continue to enhance the development of our students, not just intellectually, but socially and culturally as well. Expressions of Interest forms will be sent out at the start of Term 1. For a full list of competitions, please see the Magis Teams page.

You can keep up to date with Magis and Altiora events by following the Term 4 calendar – which can be accessed by clicking on the link below.
