Digital Technologies

In 2022, the Digital Technology Faculty enjoyed a successful year. The Year 12 Software Development students are to be commended for their academic results. Again, their results ranked in the top 5 in Victoria with a 36 median study score. Congratulations to Mr Ian Steel and his students on their achievements.

VCE Software Development is a highly successful enhancement program that aims at stretching our most capable and passionate Software Development students so that they can begin their Y12 study in Year 11.  Last year, the highest study score of 47 was achieved by Year 11 student, Jared Wigley. Below is Jared’s reflection on his journey in Y12 Software Development.

I undertook Software Development 3&4 in Year 11, and it was a very refreshing and successful experience for me. It allowed me to gain a deeper grasp of what it means to develop software, not only through the actual coding, but also the other important aspects such as project management and planning. The subject as a whole also allowed me to experience a taste of Year 12 without fully diving into it, meaning there is less stress involved in navigating through a new way of learning and assessments that I would go through in the next year. Furthermore, getting a very good score in Software Development has given me confidence in Year 12 and beyond, as I will be able to have to manage less subjects and worry less throughout the year. I cannot recommend more the benefits of doing 3&4 subjects in Year 11 and trying your hardest at them.
