Boarding

Congratulations 2022 Boarding House Captains

I am delighted to announce our Boarding House Captains for 2022 to be Alexa Balog and Henry Haynes.

Alexa and Henry have a plethora of ideas to come to fruition in 2022. Their enthusiasm and passion for boarding is palpable. Henry originates from a family tradition of boarding, with Dad (Ali) an Old Collegian and Speirs House Boarding Captain. Henry is an avid sportsman. He loves farming, football, and camping. Alexa originates from Mount Gambier and has been a boarder since 2018. She is passionate about the Arts, in particular music, theatre and debating. Henry and Alexa will make a wonderful team to listen, lead and represent our boarders in 2022. Congratulations Henry and Alexa and I wish you all the very best as we transition into our Sesquicentenary and your final year as leaders of our Boarding House.

Getting life-skills on track

Our boarders are of course living away from the close vicinity of family, and with that comes the challenge of possibly missing some of those lifeskills that mums and dads pass on. To help with this, our House mum Lise Lowe, has been guiding our younger boarders through a series of activities so they have a solid foundation of lifeskills to build upon in later years. This week, it was cooking! And in true Lise style, a wonderful Mars Bar slice was on the menu. This certainly went down well!

Next week, we look forward to Henry Haynes and MOD Brian Parfrey demonstrating and teaching car maintenance, including checking oil, changing a tyre, and driver safety.
