Welcome back to our final Term for 2021. It is going to be a very busy term with events such as Catholic Mission month, including Socktober fun, Learn to Swim, Grade 5 and Grade 6 camps and many more activities and learning to complete.

Catholic Mission Month

We are now in October which is Catholic Mission month, a time to raise awareness and funds for the work of Catholic Mission in supporting vulnerable children around the world. Next week we will take some Grade 6 representatives to the Catholic Mission Mass to be celebrated at St Therese’s Church. Mrs Chambers will accompany the boys.

As part of Mission Month, we will run a ‘Socktober’ activity next Tuesday October 19, encouraging the boys to wear some funny or brightly coloured socks and donate a gold coin to support the work of Catholic Mission.

Southern Regional Basketball Championships

We have entered a Grade 3&4 and Grade 5&6 team in their respective Division 1 competitions for this weekend. The games will be played at the Moonah Basketball stadium. Thank you in advance to coaches Wayne Browne and Kylie Anderson (Grade 5&6) and James Nadler (Grade 3&4).

Congratulations and good luck to all the boys representing SVC.

Learn to Swim October 25 – November 5 (Weeks 3 and 4)

All classes will be participating in the Learn to Swim programme in Weeks 3 and 4. This year we have booked in our programme at the Collegiate Swimming Pool. The boys are to wear bathers (no board shorts are allowed) and goggles and a swimming cap.

We will send more specific details next week in an Edsmart letter.

SRC Initiative: Fair Week: Week 7: November 22 - 26

The SRC has come up with a brilliant idea of how we can still have some fair activities, despite the cancellation of the College Fair due to the Covid restrictions on public gatherings.

In Week 7, November 22 through to November 26, we will be having Fair Week at the Junior School. Each day we will have a different ‘food theme.’ For example, we will have Milkshake Monday, Taco Tuesday, Wedges Wednesday, Ice- Cream Thursday and Fairy Floss Friday. On the Friday, in the afternoon, we will also be holding our traditional class stalls.

More information will be shared in the coming weeks. If you have any availability to help at lunchtime on any of these days, it would be appreciated.

Show Day Break

A reminder that next Thursday October 21 is the Hobart Show holiday and Friday October 22 is a student free day. As a result there will be no newsletter next week.
