From the Acting

Principal

Mrs Heidi Senior

When change is in progress, and things seem uncertain, our greatest strength is in each other.

St Virgil’s is in a time of extraordinary change. This impacts each of us differently and at different times. For some it is exciting and presents new and better horizons. For others it is incredibly stressful. And for yet others, it can feel excluding and make them feel isolated.

Pope Francis reminds us that each person in our orbit shows us the face of God, and that by our interactions with each other we find understanding. He reminds us that we are all different and that understanding each other can often be challenging, and we may never agree. But at the heart of this is love and patient perseverance.

Senior Campus Building Programme

The building programme at the Senior Campus is well and truly underway as we forge ahead to 2023 and the commencement of Year 11.

The Joyce Performance Centre (JPC) is nearing completion and should be online after Show Day. We can’t wait to hear and see all of the wonderful Performing Arts that will flourish in the new facility!

Work has commenced with VOS Construction on the in-fill of the Library. This will provide a number of new classrooms, a new and improved Learning Support room, a new suite for our Welfare Team and breakout, study and support spaces for our students.

The toilets in the Glaving Wing are having a much needed make-over. These will be completed after Show Day and will provide new toilets in individual cubicles which are clean, fresh and secure for our boys. I expect that the boys will treat this new facility respectfully and keep them in a manner that respects everyone’s need for hygiene and safety.

Finally, we are approved to commence the tender process for the Years 11 and 12 complex on the site of the old Music building. We anticipate breaking ground early in the new year.

Year 10 Final Weeks

In the coming days parents will receive information about the final weeks for their sons in Year 10. This will include updated information about the examinations, the process for which has been modified from previous times to provide the boys with greater support and hopefully have a greater chance of success. There will also be information about the Thanksgiving Liturgy and the Leavers' Dinner.

Final Day for Students for 2021

Please note the final day for students this year, on both campuses, is Friday December 10.

Show Week

Please note that there will be no classes for students on Thursday October 21 and 22 for the annual Show Day long weekend. The offices on both campuses will also be closed. There will also be no newsletter next week, however any time sensitive information for parents will be communicated via EdSmart and/or our social media platforms.
