Student Wellbeing

From the Student Wellbeing Officer …

As another year ends, it is good to take some time to reflect on the past 12 months.  For some, 2018 has been a difficult year and the thought of a new year is a welcome relief.  For others, 2018 has been amazing and everything you could hope for.  But more than likely, 2018 has been a mixture, and as we reflect, it is important to celebrate the wins, no matter how small or insignificant they may seem, and be grateful for the tough times for what we have learnt.

Christmas means a lot of different things to different people.  A chance to stop, spend time with family and friends, have a holiday, exchange gifts, enjoy parties, and Christmas dinner.  It’s a time for remembering loved ones no longer with us.  It’s a time to express how we feel about each other through words and gifts.  It is a chance to give a message of love to those we care about.  It’s time to carry out all those Christmas traditions.  For me, along with the above, Christmas is a time of celebrating the birth of a Baby born in a stable in a town called Bethlehem.  Whatever Christmas means to you, I encourage you to take the time to reflect on 2018 and as we move into 2019, decide to share the Christmas spirit all year long through expressing your love and appreciation for those in your world.  If we shared Christmas all year round, imagine how much happier humanity could be.

I have enjoyed being part of the Weeden Heights Primary School community this year.  I have loved spending time with your children, getting to know them and journeying with them.  There are some amazing students in this school, and I look forward to continuing to spend time with them in 2019.

Wishing you and your loved ones a very Merry Christmas and every happiness for a wonderful 2019.

Until next time,
