THE WEEKS THAT WERE!

We are very proud of our school and it is with pride that we reflect on some terrific achievements over recent weeks in our Home Learning environment.

☺ Smiled warmly as I watched the SRC video “Welcome to My House’ I would like to particularly thank the students in our SRC committee, Ms Buczko and Anderson Eng (our ICT Captain) for all their efforts in compiling this.

☺ Continued to see confidence and skills enhanced in the use of the digital platforms we have been using this term. Staff and students alike have embraced the development of their skills which has meant a greater range of learning differentiation, more and more video opportunities for individuals, small groups and teams. The year four team even trialed a virtual assembly. I believe there will be skills that have been developed over this time that will be transferable to our school days.

Karen and I have enjoyed taking some time to see students learning that has been posted on Seesaw or Google Class over recent weeks. Much learning has still happened in a school day. It has obviously been enormously supported by ICT. It’s terrific to see so many of our students challenging themselves on these platforms and enhancing their skills.

☺ Watched as some new line marking has occurred in our main asphalt area. This has certainly spruced up the area considerably.

☺ Commenced further planning with architect Clarke-Hopkins-Clarke in relation to the spending of the School Pride monies we received from the State government last year. We will see the redevelopment of the area near our year 3 and 5 portables and look forward to sharing plans in the coming weeks.

It will be wonderful to see the smiling faces of our Prep, I and 2 students next week as they resume back at school. I am sure there will be a real buzz in the air as we commence learning together again at school. How lucky we are to be part of CPS.

NUMERACY NEWS – lovely links to share

Attached to this week’s newsletter is some marvellous maths news written by Brittney Hudgell, our Numeracy Team Leader. Britt has spent time putting together a number of links that you and your child/children may be interested in to engage and excite the mathematician in all. Thank you, Britt for your time in developing this.

PUPIL FREE DAY ON MONDAY 25th MAY - NO SCHOOL

The Department of Education has declared a Pupil Free Day on Monday 25th May in preparation for the resumption of staff back on site and the transition back to school for our Prep, 1 and 2 students. A modified Before and After Care program will operate on this day for eligible families. Please contact Youth Leadership if you have any queries

@HOME STEAM DAY

Tomorrow we have planned our first ever STEAM day that is filled with challenges for all of our students. We hope students are able to get into the spirit of the day and create some clever engineering solutions to the tasks that were shared on Compass with families last Friday. We look forward to hearing about the challenges students chose to respond to during class meetings over the next week or so. Usual learning tasks have not been scheduled.
