The Arts

This semester Grades 1,2,5,6 and Year 7 are learning in the Visual Arts and there is a Photography and Visual Arts elective for Year 8-10 students. VCE Units 1 and 2 classes are also running in Studio Arts and Visual Communication Design.
Students from Grade 1 to Year 10 have been reviewing the Elements and Principles of Art, completing exercises and creating artworks using a variety of the elements. Students in the 8-10 Art elective did an exercise using shape and colour (inspired by Sonia Delaunay), as well as using colour and contrast (watercolours and inks). The Year 7 class did a a Taking a line for a walk exercise as well as a drawing exercise that used line, shape and colour to create an abstracted character. Year 1/2 students did experiments and discoveries with charcoal. Finally the Year 8-10 Visual Arts Elective have been exploring form and pattern - creating Grecian amphora collages.
In Studio Art students are developing a theme for the semester, recording their research in their visual diaries and experimenting with a variety of media and techniques.
In Visual Communication Design students have been focusing on observational and visualisation drawing. They have also been completing exercises in technical drawing including isometric and one and two point perspective drawings.
Foundations and Grade 3 and 4 are studying Performing Arts. Learning activities so far have included songs, games and exercises that teach performance skills such as role-playing, improvisation and individual and group performance.
