Welcome back to Term 2!
Welcome back to Term 2 at Burke Ward Public School.
We start the term under the NSW Department of Education's Phase 0. From Monday May 11, students will be rostered to attend school one day a week as we move into Phase 1. Families will be notified via phone and mail of the day their child/ren have been rostered to attend.
Regular hand washing routines and hand sanitiser is available for all students. Students are asked to ensure they have a water bottle as bubblers are to be used for filling up bottles only. Parents of students who are not well are asked to keep them at home until they are well again.
This term, Mrs Canning continues to take leave. Whilst on leave, Mrs Kate Hogg will be the relieving principal.
We encourage families to make contact with the school if they have any questions or concerns.
Library News
Book Club
Order forms for the Scholastic Book Club No. 3 are currently being distributed. As many students around the country are returning to school at different times, Scholastic have prepared a virtual catalogue. It can be accessed here https://scholastic.com.au/book-club/virtual-catalogue-1/
Scholastic provide a wide range of books suitable for all ages. For each book purchased the school earns points. The school is then able to use the points to select a number of books free of charge that then go into our library.
There are several payment options. You may pay by cash or cheque (made out to Scholastic Australia). The students need to return any order forms with the cash or cheque in an envelope marked with their name and class. They should be returned to the office. You will need to print a copy of the order form or simply write your name, class, book title and catalogue number on a sheet of paper.
You can also pay by credit card online by going to www.scholastic.com.au/LOOP
If you pay by LOOP you DO NOT need to return any paperwork to school. The school will be notified that you have placed and paid for an order. Your order will be returned with the other orders that have been placed by the school.
Once the school receives the orders from Scholastic they will be sorted out and Mrs O'Mally will either phone you or send a message on Class Dojo to let you know that your order is ready for collection. Orders will be left in the front office to be collected.
Order forms for Issue 3 are due back on Tuesday 12th May.
Commonwealth Student Banking
The health, safety and wellbeing of our communities and our people remains our highest priority. Due to the ongoing uncertainty surrounding Coronavirus, the School Banking program will remain on hold. We will continue to monitor the situation and keep you informed with any updates including how we will be managing Dollarmite tokens for students.
