Year Prep

In Mathematics this week we have been learning to connect number names, numerals and quantities. We have been exploring how numbers can be represented in all different ways! We used Playdough mats to make numbers which ranged from 1 to 12.

The Preps have settled in to school so well and are really enjoying getting to know each other and making new friends.

Year 1

This week in Year 1 we have continued to talk about our five school rules and how to follow them in all areas of our school day. All of the students in Year 1 have been working really hard to follow these rules during learning time and outside at recess and at lunch. The students have been showing how they follow the school rules during Discovery Time as well.

Our school rules are

  1. Follow instructions
  2. Speak politely
  3. Keep your hands and feet to yourself
  4. Move around the school in a safe and mindful way
  5. Respect people, equipment and property

Year 2/3/4

The Year 2/3/4 students have commenced their new Science based Inquiry topic. Students were eager to develop and share their wonderings about the Sun, the sky and the seasons. They were introduced to a sun dial and how it worked. Students then went outside at different intervals throughout the day, to track the Sun's movement.

Year 4 / 5

Wow there is a beautiful buzz in the air at our school ~ your kids are SOO happy to be back at school. And so are we! We've spent the past week or so looking at our new and improved school rules, as well as our Learning Dispositions which are also a main focus for the beginning of the year.  As students in 4/5M are caught following school rules or displaying the Learning Dispositions, they are rewarded with a ticket to the Freaky Friday Raffle, where great prizes are on offer.  Congratulations to Zane Azzarone for winning the first class raffle, drawn last Friday.

Garden Club

The Year 4/5 students each week will participate in a Garden Club, where we will take care of our playground and look after any fresh produce that we have growing in the garden. Our tomatoes are ripening beautifully and are ready to be eaten! Remember when tomatoes tasted like tomatoes. These certainly do! I think it might be time for some cooking, kids. I relish these moments!

Year 5/6

The students have been exploring the theme 'HOPE' and what it means to them. After the last couple of years the students have hope of a better year.

Here are the 3 quotes the students have chosen for our theme.

Winning doesn’t always mean being first. Winning means you’re doing better than you’ve done before. Brian

Never underestimate the power of hope. Hope fuels us with the energy and courage to go forward. Mili

Hope is the little voice in your head that tells you "maybe"  when the entire world is shouting "no!" Isabelle
