We trust your child/children have settled in well to the specialist programs and are enjoying learning and participating in the fun things we do.

From the Art room.....

We began our year with a focus on our names. Students used mirror, chalkboard and 3D lettering to write their names, with particular emphasis on the shape of letters and the space available on their page.

We have also begun work for our float in the Warrandyte Festival Street Parade on Saturday March 19th. Please save this date for the morning Street Parade walk as part of our ACPS community. More details about the time and place of meeting to come. The theme of the 2022 Festival is 'Celebrate - Together Again'. Our school will have a float of a growing garden - representing the beauty of ACPS growing together once again. Students have been busy modelling clay flowers and leaves, and glazing their works with colourful glaze. Students have learned about the stages of clay - from when it is malleable, pliable and moldable and has been shaped into a desired object (called greenware), and when it has almost fully dried out (called leatherhard). Students observed differences in the clay in the one week from when they modelled with it to when they glazed it. The clay was very fragile when the students glazed their pieces, and I was so proud of the students for being so careful with their work. Super efforts!

You might like to visit the free Warrandyte Pottery Expo on this weekend - Saturday 26th and Sunday 27th February, 9am - 5:30pm, along the river bank in Warrandyte. There will be wheel throwing demonstrations, live entertainment, and items to admire and purchase.
