Year 12 Graduation Mass

The Graduation Mass celebrated the contributions and achievements of the graduating class of 2018.

Our liturgy called on these young men and women to go forth into the world carrying the light of Christ in their hearts and minds, which was reflective of the theme: You are the Light of the World.

Students processed to the altar in House groups, bowing together symbolising their unity as Christians before God. The bond of love and friendship these students have built together will continue beyond Mater Dei Catholic College and will be an ever important part of their lives in the future.

Students in the reflection received a candle from their House Leader and as the hall lights were turned off, their candles burnt brightly for all to see! The young women and men of Year 12 are called on to go forth into the world carrying the light of Christ.

‘You are the light of the world. A city on a hill cannot be hidden. Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl. Instead they put it on its stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house’. Matthew 5:14.

Mater Dei Students support Sacred Heart Primary Confirmation

Last week our Mater Dei Students took an active, supporting role in the preparation of Sacred Heart Students for Confirmation. Our Students were involved in preparing and playing Music during the special Sacramental Masses last week, along with attending the faith formation day at Vianney College. Our Year 9 and 10 Students gave personal testimony and witness to their experiences of faith and how the Holy Spirit provides comfort and support for them in their lives. Thank you to Will Hurst, Tom Craft, Abi Howe and Caitlyn Spalding, who all spoke from the heart and shared their reflections so capably.

Thank you to our talented Musicians who prepared and performed the hymns during the Ceremony; Anna Boland, Gabrielle Shaw, Louise Baker and Zoe Granville.

Social Justice Team Cooking for Vinnies

To conclude our term of fundraising and support for the less fortunate in our Community, the Social Justice Team decided to support Vinnies in their Community Outreach Program, preparing batches of Spaghetti Bolognese to send to the Centre of Charity for distribution to families and individuals doing it tough.

Students gave up their lunchtime to prepare these meals, which have already begun being shared among grateful recipients. Thank you to Mrs Lutze and Mrs McCoullough for supporting our Students with this wonderful project.
