Premier's Reading Challenge Awards

Top readers strike Gold and Platinum

Mr Casey proudly presented students in Year 7 with Gold and Platinum PRC Certificates at this week’s Year 7 Assembly. The awards for their 2021 reading achievement are impressive given the disrupted learning environment and home isolation. Their support teams including Ms Martin, Primary teachers and parents also deserve a round of applause.

Platinum Certificates Awardees for 7 successful years are pictured with Mr Casey and Mr Stollery include Callum Koruga, Oliver Hartry, Charles Garnys, Emilio Circosta, Samuel Bewley and Antonio Calcarao. Daniel Gorken-Spyrou, Jerome Naudet and Logan Van Katwyk recognised in absentia.

Our Reading Achievers pictured with Mr Casey and myself with their Gold Certificates for 4 successful years include Jake Desertine, Cameron Giang, Ethan Hartley, Riley Patten and Oliver Price (Sebastian Gadaleta - absent).

Languages Department

This week has seen the end of the Chinese New Year celebrations so vibrantly evident in our local community. This year at the student assembly, the Year 12 Cultural Prefects and Student Leadership presented a fantastic bilingual celebration of ‘the Year of the Tiger’. The students spoke in Chinese and English informing us about the significance of the tiger, bringing power and control during these times. The students in Year 5 and 6 also performed the ‘Gongxi Gongxi’ song, wishing us all a successful and prosperity in the New Year. Thank you to Dennis Lee, who painted the calligraphy for the occasion. Thanks also to the Year 12 team for their Chinese Fortune Cookies which were much enjoyed in the Junior School classrooms. Please take the opportunity to view videos of the students' videos in the Principal's page of this Woodchatta.

In January, Year 12 student Andrew Guerrera was very fortunate to attend the 2021 National Youth Science Forum, albeit online.

The Forum is a 12 day program for students with a passion for Science and is offered each year to Year 11 students. Andrew would recommend this program to any current Year 11 students who have an interest in Science or pursuing a career in Science or STEM.

Please click the link below to see Andrew’s report from the 2021 NYSF.
