HARVEY’S HIGHLIGHTS! WHAT’S BEEN HAPPENING AT SPS?

FAREWELL FOR NOW!

As you have probably heard I have taken on an Acting Principal role at Aldercourt PS for the rest of term 2. It was such a rush and I didn’t get to say goodbye for the short term but I will miss my Somerville family. I look forward to catching up with you all when I return but in the meantime keep up that wonderful reading and can’t wait to see you all again soon!!!

WONDERFUL WORK

FRACTIONS IN 2R

It was wonderful to go into the 2R classroom and watch them learning all about numerators and denominators in fractions. I totally interrupted the lesson and set them all the challenge of cutting their sandwiches into different fractions for the following day. The next day I went back and it was awesome to see the number of pieces their sandwiches were cut into. We talked about 1/8 and 1/6 and 1/4s. It is wonderful what you can do when relating real life situations to the learning that is going on in the classrooms. Make sure you check the ‘What’s Happening’ in your level to see how you can relate real life learning to the topics they are learning in the classroom.
