Primary Science Program

Last week saw the Primary Science Program start off for the year with Miss Anna Nguyen and a group of Year 10 students going to St. Paul the Apostle North Primary School. The program offers St. John’s students the opportunity to develop leadership skills as they work with younger students, exploring various topics. In this case, students were using microscopes to take a closer look at dirt and the organisms that are find in it.

Technology

Year 8 Design and Technology Wood students have been designing table lamps this year. Students are required to come up with their own design for both the table and the lamp which they then create using the skills that they have developed whilst at St. John’s. This particular example was created by Emma Jorissen.

Science

One of the foci for the Year 10 Astrophysics classes has been exploring the various galaxies of the universe, looking into their composition, size and various other characteristics. To help students with this, they paid a visit to the Melbourne Planetarium earlier this term and have now been presenting their findings to the other students.
