Co-curricular - Junior Sport

With many families having two or more sons attending the College, there are often times when brothers will be in attendance to spectate at a Saturday fixture. In these incidences, boys should be attired in the College uniform. This can be the full College Uniform (no blue cap required for Junior School boys), the black Supporter’s polo shirt, black shorts, and black cap and if the weather is cool, the College tracksuit. For those that have come from a College game or due to attend one after their brother’s game, the College playing uniform is also permitted. Students from the College wearing casual clothing at these times run the risk of receiving a College detention.

With the long weekend quickly approaching, some advanced notice for families:

  • There will be no Junior School fixtures on Saturday 11 June and no training on Monday 13 June.
  • Training will recommence on Tuesday 14 June as scheduled.
  • The last round of Term 2 Winter Sport will be Saturday 18 June.
  • There will be no training after school in the last week of Term 2.
  • Training and games begin the first day back of Term 3.

Last week, we had a number of boys selected to trial for the CIS Rugby Union team. Unfortunately, we were unsuccessful in having any student selected. Congratulations to all the boys on their efforts in the trial; selection to trial is a reward itself. We wish you all the best for the remainder of the College sport season.

This week Levi Berbari (6 Black) and Lewis Massih (6 Red) are representing CIS in Basketball in Tamworth. We wish the boys the best and look forward to hearing about their experiences upon their return.

A reminder for parents/carers to please be aware of their son’s finishing times for training. Of late, there have been incidences where boys have been waiting for longer than 45 minutes to be collected after training. This includes boys waiting for brothers in the senior school to finish their training. It is a safety concern for boys to be left waiting at the College of an afternoon. I would ask that every effort be made to have the boys in the Junior School collected within 15 minutes of their scheduled training finishing time.

A message from the Junior School Justice Group (JSJ):

During Term 1 the Junior School Justice Group started looking at recycling. Since then, we have done a few waste audits and have been looked at the progress that the Junior/Senior school has made with the number of cans put in the colour house bins. During this term in Week 4 we had a talk with Mr Mavros from an EREA school in Perth. He talked to us about advocacy and other things about Social Justice. Now we are currently looking at reconciliation week and what it is. If you would like to hear more about reconciliation week, then listen to your daily notices on student café.
