NATIONAL SORRY DAY

Next week we celebrate National Sorry Day, followed by National Reconciliation Week. The theme this year is “Be Brave. Make Change.”

Reconciliation is a journey for all Australians – as individuals, families, communities and importantly as a nation. It is an opportunity to learn about our shared histories, cultures and achievements and to contribute to building a reconciled Australia. At the heart of this journey are relationships between the broader Australian community and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.

The Our Lady of Fatima community is committed to providing a culturally safe environment where students can engage in meaningful relationships based on the principles of respect, justice, equity, and dignity.

“Sorry Day”  is the day on which all Australians are invited to recognise our Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Peoples as the original inhabitants of our land. We remember this ‘sorry’ past and pray for a new beginning. As part of Sorry Day, 5/6 A will be leading our assembly on Friday 27th May.
