Principal's News

'Human greatness does not lie in wealth or power, but in character and goodness.'

Anne Frank

Dear Families

Last Friday evening was a very special one in the lives of many of our Year Six students and their loved ones. After many hours of preparation they received the Sacrament of Confirmation which is one of the Initiation Sacraments of the Catholic Church and helps the candidates to be united more firmly with Christ. It was an intimate ceremony led by Bishop Tony and Father John Paul. We thank you for keeping the candidates and their families in your prayers.

A FEW UPDATES:

Code of Conduct

Our Lady of Fatima aims to work proactively with all members of our community and is committed to ensuring a respectful learning environment that is safe, positive and supportive for all students, staff and visitors of the School. Here is a copy of our Parent / Guardian/ Carer Code of Conduct as a reminder of our principles, expected and unexpected conduct.

Extension of the rapid antigen testing program for schools

A reminder that the rapid antigen test (RAT) screening program continues for the remainder of Term 2 . A letter regarding this was sent on Tuesday evening through Skoolbag. Key points include:

  • RATs will continue to be distributed for the remainder of this term
  • from Monday 23 May 2022, we do not recommend that your child complete a RAT twice a week as previously advised
  • RATs will continue to be required by students who are household contacts to attend school (five negative tests over a seven-day period) or who have symptoms
  • continue to contact the school with positive cases.

Mass

Our students will attend a Parish Mass this term with their year level and peers. Parents and carers are most welcome to attend as well. Please ensure that you have given your permission through Operoo for your child to attend mass/church if you haven't already done so. This permission note is for all of 2022. The Mass dates are:

  • Friday 27th May 9.30 am - Year 3/4
  • Friday 3rd June 9.30 am - Year 1/2
  • Friday 10th June 9.30 am - Prep

School Office Protocol

All visitors, including parents and carers, are required to go directly to the school office during the school day. Once authorised, visitors will be guided to the required location and/or staff member.

School Reports

Please note, there is a slight change to the date that our Semester 1 reports will go home. The new date is Thursday 23 June, instead of Monday 20 June.

Student toilets

For child safety reasons, our main toilets situated amongst our Prep to Year 4 classrooms are for student use only. Parents and carers, are most welcome to use the toilets that are located in our hall foyer.

In concluding, I wish to inform you that next week I will be attending the Peninsula Principal Conference. In my absence, Mrs. Gill Carr, our Deputy Principal, will be the caretaker, supported by Mrs. Louise Davidge our Wellbeing and Learning Diversity Leader.

Go gently
