At ENPS we have an Anaphylaxis Policy, actively promote allergy awareness and follow the Victorian Guidelines for Anaphylaxis Management in schools. Anaphylaxis is a severe, rapidly progressive allergic reaction that is potentially life threatening. As a school community we strongly believe that the safety and wellbeing of students who are at risk of anaphylaxis is a community-wide responsibility. It is a joint obligation of the school and parents/carers to minimise an anaphylactic incident.
Risk minimisation strategies are put in place within classrooms, teaching teams and across the wider school community. We encourage you to consider this when packing student lunches. We discourage the provision of food containing egg, traces of nuts, including peanut butter, muesli bars and Nutella.
NOTE: Students with Anaphylaxis, Allergies or Asthma require medical plans:
- ASCIA Anaphylaxis Plan signed by a doctor updated annually
- ASCIA Allergic Reaction Plan signed by a doctor updated annually
- All medications (EpiPen; Ventolin) are provided by parents and carers; expiries are checked and replaced regularly
*Please speak with our first aid officer if you have any concerns regarding your child’s plan.
