From the Wellbeing Team
AUGUST 2021
With short, dark and rainy days, you might feel a little more ‘down’ than usual, or perhaps you might struggle to do things that normally make you happy; throw in a lockdown or two and this feeling gets a whole lot worse. But don’t worry, it will all get better soon, and warmer weather is coming.
During the recent lockdowns, our College Wellbeing Team was out there keeping students feeling positive and connected to each other.
I love this photo of Margi, our College Nurse, running a colouring activity focussing on healthy foods.
What I really love about this photo, and about each lunch group that I joined, was the smiles on everyone’s faces.
At Northern Bay, we love our community, and not even a lockdown can keep us from sharing in positive conversations and good times with each other.
Recently, Molly Wright, a 7-year-old from the Gold Coast delivered one of the best TED Talks that I have ever seen. She spoke about how important connecting, talking, playing and spending time with community really is for the development of a child. If you have a spare 6 minutes, you can see the full TED Talk HERE.
There might be more lockdowns in the future, but we are ready for whatever comes – with plenty of engagement activities up our sleeves to connect, talk and play with those in our community.
