Family Learning Centre Update

AUGUST 2021

THE EARLY LEARNING CENTRE

We celebrated Christmas in July with Pajama week!  Because the days are shorter and the nights are longer in winter, we decided to take advantage by living in our pajamas for the week.

We sang Christmas carols and decorated the tree. We had special breakfasts all week, and we made pancakes with the kinder and the ELC together.

We concluded the week with a turkey lunch.  What a fun week!

THE FAMILY CENTRE

Playgroups are for all children u5 – celebrating our unique cultural diversities

Did you know Family Centre playgroups and activities are free and facilitated by trained and experienced playgroup leaders.

We can't wait to see your smiling faces.  However, to keep us all safe, bookings in groups are now essential as we are required to limit the number of participants in each session.

Please ‘book in’ with the playgroup facilitator for every person over 12 months of age attending playgroup.

  • If you and/or your child is unwell please consult with your group facilitator and do not attend – stay home and if symptoms persist consult your GP before attending.
  • Families are asked to follow staff directions and health directives regarding facemasks, physical distancing and hygiene and practice physical distancing with each other.

While we are at home during lockdowns there is lots to entertain busy littlees

Community Hubs activities

The Community hubs  activities  specifically  support migrant and refugee women, pre-school children and their families.

Parents and children enjoy new social supports and friendships, as well as sharing of practical information about health, nutrition and child development and well-being.

Importantly for our multicultural playgroup supports parent and child bilingual language development and provides fun and friendly early learning experiences that promote positive pathways to kindergarten and primary school.

For more information about English conversation classes and other activities each term, contact our NBC Community Hubs Leaders:
