Years 10 -12 Update
AUGUST 2021
Our VCAL senior students independently planned and delivered an Intro to VCAL session for year 10 students. The purpose of this was to support year 10s with their course selection and to prepare them for senior pathways. The seniors facilitated Q+A focus groups, teamwork challenges and a workshop on interview preparation.
On Wednesday July 28 our Year 10 students who elected a VCE pathway had an information session. The session began with our Learning Area Leaders talking about each of the VCE subjects students could select from. Students learned about Business Management, Psychology, PE and Ancient History, just to name a few. A shock for some students learning that the Year 12 English Exam is 3 hours long! Students were then able to meet in smaller groups with VCE students and learn more about the program from their peers. VCE students brought in work samples and discussed what it’s like to be in VCE and things they can do to best prepare for senior school. It was a great example of students learning from other students. Thank you to all the Learning Area Leaders and VCE students for sharing their knowledge and time to best support our Year 10 students.
Year 10 into 11 Course Counselling
On Friday July 30 our Year 10 students and their families met online to confirm their 2022 programs. Our prospective VCAL students were amazing in their interviews. Some dressed in button up shirts and articulately answered questions, demonstrating maturity and a commitment to the VCAL program.
The VCE students met with leaders to discuss their subject selections and Ms Conroy, Mr Saker and Mr Parker were very impressed by the level of research students had undertaken regarding courses and prerequisites.
Leaders are really excited by the calibre of students in Year 10 and are really looking forward to working with them at the end of the year as they begin Year 11.
