Farewell and welcome

Farewell and thank you

The end of the year is a time of sadness with staff departing to move on to new and exciting adventures. This year we have two retirements after many years of dedicated service:

  • Diana Corkery: has been teaching Visual Communication and Design, Visual Arts and Food Studies for 35 years, and has been a long-serving Year Level Program Leader, amongst many other positions of leadership and responsibility. This is a tremendous commitment to the one school community.
  • Kathryn Taylor:  who began here in 2001 as a relief teacher and then became a teacher librarian. She has had a varied career as a maths and science teacher, as a librarian in academic and public libraries, and as a research chemist.

Both Diana and Kathryn have an incredible record of service, influencing the lives of so many young people. We wish both of them the best as they move into the next of life’s adventures.

Some of our longer-term staff are moving onto new and interesting positions at other schools.

  • Josh McDonald, who has been a Leading Teacher with us for 5 years, is moving to take up a Leading Teacher position at Oberon High School in the Geelong area
  • Colm Reale is taking up a promotion position as a maths Learning Specialist at Pascoe Vale Girls’ Secondary College
  • Scott MacDonald is also taking up a promotion position at Bendigo Senior Secondary College as a Learning Specialist
  • Sarah Blanchard is moving on to be one of the foundation staff members at Preston High School.

There are a number of staff who have only been with us this year, in leave replacement positions, and will not continue in 2019.  We sincerely thank:

Janelle Gallagher, Julian Lee-Holman, Mike Thorburn, Monica Neilson, Lizzie Williams, Yvie Bolton, Matty Bilias, Ryan Lok and Genevieve DuBois for their work with students, staff and the broader community, and we wish them all the best for future endeavours.

In 2019 the following staff will be taking leave and new staff will replace them:

Chile Chiang, Sarah Elphick, Paul Giddy, Ben Orphin, Julian Perry and Sophie Tayton, will be on leave for the entire year, Sarah Green will be on leave for Semester 1, and Jerome Rush is on leave during Term 1.

We have undertaken an exhaustive recruitment process and have quality replacements in place for the new year.

Welcome new staff

We look forward to welcoming a number of new and returning staff to the school for 2019, in teaching, leadership and Education Support positions.
