Work experience gives students’ a chance to try out a potential career pathway, it gives them the opportunity to observe others perform a role and get hands-on experience. This is a great way to establish workplace skills, boost their resume and discover new jobs/industries, which will help further their chances of landing a likely future job.

For some lucky students who prove to be a great asset to the workplace, work experience turns into paid employment. If they do a great job and build positive relationships within the workplace, they will be the first in line to be offered a part time job. This is the case for Harrison Bienasz-Barnett, after undertaking work experience at Switch Restaurant since the beginning of the year, he secured a part-time position.  By ticking off all the skills needed in the hospitality industry, some of which are proving his capabilities and confidence, he was offered this opportunity.
